How should the faculties of the senses and the mind be controlled and guided so that we reach the goal? Bhagawan lovingly reveals
“The body is a chariot. The charioteer is the principle of Buddhi (intelligence). The senses are the horses. The reins that regulate and restrain the horses are the manas (mind). When the mind wavers and wanders, not having stability of purpose, the horses run helter-skelter, endangering even the charioteer, Buddhi (Intellect). Speech is an important function of the senses and serves the whims of the mind. So, one must control the mind and not pollute it with greed for
sense pleasures . Nor should the mind be tossed about on waves of 'Yes' and 'No', of acceptance and rejection, of resolutions and hesitations. The mind must act as an associate of the Buddhi. Speech subserving the mind and mind subserving intellect - this is the way to bring about Prashanti, Supreme Peace! And note this: Slowly and steadily, instruct the intellect to turn towards Atma. Speech with mind, mind with intellect and intellect illumined by the Atma — this ensures you attain your genuine goal!”
- Divine Discourse, Nov 23, 1984.
The overall purpose and intent for the Daily Sadhana is beautifully explained by Bhagawan in the TFD posted above. It is simply to achieve the Purity of the Individual and Unity with Collective Consciousness. The opportunity to be a Ritwik in a Yajna is hence traditionally bestowed only to Brahmins who had received formal initiation into learning Vedic hymns and practice daily austerities, japa, and other rituals. This rigorous daily sadhana qualifies an individual to be a Ritwik at the Yajna.
It is absolutely Bhagwan’s grace that we are all getting this precious opportunity independent of caste, creed, religion, gender, age, and any affiliations. To deserve and also receive the full grace of Bhagawan all MUST follow the Daily Sadhana that prepares the body, mind, and the senses for the Yajna.
Speech - Daily Veda Chanting
What: Daily prayers include chanting of Ganapathi, Gayatri, Sri Rudram (along with Nyasa and Dhyana), Durga Suktam, Multi Faith Prayers, Sai Gayatri, and Kshama Prardhana.
How: Ideally do it at the same time every day. It is best if you can join the rest of the Ritwiks via the zoom link and chant at the same time. Collective prayers are more powerful and potent than doing on your own.
All Ritiwiks MUST learn the viniyoga, nyasa, and dhyana. This protocol properly invokes and closes the Sri Rudram as an application for individual and universal peace. Hence, please sit and do the chanting. Preferably offer it at your altar to Bhagawan. Avoid multitasking and focus on the chanting. Specifically, please do not do the daily prayers while driving a car, taking a walk, and so on.
Zoom calls for Collective Daily Prayers will be hosted at multiple times during the day to enable all to join. The session will conclude with the Thought for the Day posted in Prashanti Nilayam. See below to look at the time various sessions are available according to your time zone. You can join any of the sessions per your convenience. But try to be consistent as much as possible.
